2 Tips For New Dads
As I sit here on a flight with my beautiful wife and my 1-year-old baby boy, I realize yet again what an important topic FAMILY is — and in my case: FATHERHOOD.
Some months ago I wrote an article about my only daddy tip thus far: using a baby carrier to take my son on walks and give my wife breaks.
This still holds true and is a valuable part of my life. I’m going to miss it when those walks end, but I suppose they’ll be replaced by even more active sporting adventures! And Alissa is 21 weeks pregnant, so I’ll have a little girl to walk with me before long.
I have one more tip: FOOD BATH.
I know that may sound wild, but I assure you: IT IS.
Every kid is different, but I’m guessing the daily walks and food baths have a high chance of working for any kiddo.
Ultimately they accomplish two major objectives:
1. Give Alissa a break.
2. Give me personal bonding time with Onyx.
By feeding Onyx (fruit, yogurt, hamburger patties?) and getting him to drink (water, juice, smoothie pouches) WHILE letting him have fun in the tub, we get some productive time for his body and for our bond.
On the walks, I’ll admit I’ve been getting him a teeny scoop of gelato while we walk, just to keep some calories in. And I make sure to get some fluids in him, too, though mainly they end up on me (anything under 50% liquid landing on me is a good mark to shoot for).
So those are my two tips thus far.
As I gain new and useful tips for up-and-coming fathers, I’ll keep writing. And if you have any tips ahead for me, please share them in the comments.
Daily Walk/s.
Daily Food Bath/s.
There’s my simple recipe so far for a happy baby, a happy wife, and a happy life.
Alissa and Onyx give me so many PRICELESS smiles, laughs, snuggles and more, every single day. I’m grateful to be able to do something useful for him and mommy.

Ben
