The Knee Ability and ATG Mobility series are rolling along smoothly.

But I decided to revisit the Youth Fitness series, now including the WHY and context behind it.

So here is your new Part 1 of 10…

Despite our vast scientific knowledge, all the stats I can find indicate that today’s youth are the least physically fit in history.

So this year, my wife and I are rebuilding the systems for our kids.

For starters, Alissa and I take our kids to the park DAILY. We also made almost half our gym a PLAYzone for them.

This series is NOT about interfering with kids being kids. It’s about solving some very real problems lurking ahead.

One thing we’re doing this year is adding to this playzone concept.

We’re now building a larger space with an adult gym side by side with an ATG kids gym, which is like full-body gymnastic basics.

We’re committed to creating a gym where adults and kids can attend a class at the SAME TIME.

We also will start building a small school this year, with significant changes to the current system…

One of the ideas comes from Kelly Starrett, and that is to have mats next to the chairs so kids can sit on the floor any time they want.

Floor sitting is like nature’s mobility routine. While they don’t have to sit on a mat, they sure shouldn’t be prevented from doing so at a young age!

The next change is a strict 1:1 sitting ratio.

This means the daily schedule CANNOT require more than half the time sitting.

There are so many real-world, exchangeable skills that don’t require being lectured to.

The next school system change is the kids being involved in the lunch process each day, since over 50% of the modern child’s diet is now ULTRA-PROCESSED.

And finally, as the PE Coach, I will use a daily rotation of a wide variety of sports, finishing with just one ATG progression per day.

The rest of this series will go over each exercise progression and explain WHY!

Yours in Solutions,

Ben
