ATG Weekly Newsletter 26 June 2022: 3-Step Lower Back Rebuild, ATG Sports Stamina Checklist & New ATG Split Squat Regression
This week’s mini educational video is a 3-step Lower Back Rebuild explaining how short-range, long-range, and mid-range are addressed in the ATG system.
This week’s long-form educational video is the ATG Sports Stamina Checklist. This 6-step checklist is the conversation a younger version of me needed when I thought I had poor stamina.
We also may have uncovered a valuable ATG Split Squat regression. Lately I’ve been noticing Alissa looking less and less comfortable on the ATG Split Squat as her belly has grown during pregnancy. We finally solved this for her, and she was able to exhaust the right muscles while getting an amazing hip-flexor stretching workout. It looked like this:
In the ATG system, ANY regression is a valid regression! I don’t discriminate on regressions. The GOAL of perfect form, however, is measurably precise. But getting there often means mastering the art of how to get the desired training effect without working through pain in the process.
Pain is a communication from your body. Ignoring that communication may result in damage requiring excessive recovery time, thus delaying the effectiveness of your program.
In the Zero program, we work up to 25 reps in a row on each leg in the ATG Split Squat, and the regression above works great for 25 reps.
The ATG Split Squat is my personal favorite exercise because I believe it’s given me more results for athleticism and bulletproofing than any other. That doesn’t mean it will be everyone’s favorite exercise, but a high percentage of others have reported the same. Therefore, it’s quite possible that the above regression could be the most helpful exercise during pregnancy, a time when your knees and back are under heavy fire.
That’s it for this week!
