The ATG Alternative to Rest, Ice, and Anti-Inflammatory Drugs

Let’s just look at the results:
Rest, in general, is a necessary part of how the human body adapts. But the advice of “don’t do such and such for 6 weeks” is actually a death wish for the area of your body. Yes, you may experience relief from simply not doing something, but NOT USING your knees, for example, results in further weakening of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments, making you more likely to experience a full tear and surgery when you return to activity.
In life, the solution is rarely ALL or NOTHING. Miracles await the person who does not run from a problem, but CONFRONTS it on a GRADIENT SCALE.
Even icing, which we come to think of as “normal” for knee pain — and which Google will immediately tell you to do any time something hurts — only DELAYS HEALING.
Let’s break it down…
Your body sends you a pain signal. This is your body’s way of telling you something cannot handle the stress you are putting on it. Now, instead of addressing THE WHY, you smack ice on it…
“Shut up, Mr. Knee!”
Icing temporarily takes the pain away, but does NOT figure out your WHY for the pain in the first place, and continued icing only dulls the nerves in the area, making real healing harder and harder as the days, weeks, months, and years roll on!
In fact, the famous R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) formula which is still advised by doctors to millions of people today… has since been admitted as W.R.O.N.G. BY THE VERY GUY WHO INVENTED IT!
Look up “Gabe Mirkin RICE Formula.” What’s hilarious is that Google itself advises the RICE formula for your pains, but Google itself is also aware that Dr. Mirkin has since changed his mind and realized he was wrong! It’s absolutely fascinating how misinformed humanity at large can be, and how slowly true data can spread.
The false RICE formula is popular, while Dr. Mirkin’s new advice is the minority! WOW.
And things only get worse from here, because anti-inflammatory drugs are advised so heavily by doctors, we never think twice about what they are doing to us…
Growing evidence suggests that anti-inflammatory drugs may damage cartilage: Shield MJ. Anti-inflammatory drugs and their effects on cartilage synthesis and renal function. Eur J Rheumatol Inflamm. 1993;13(1):7–16.
Yep, here’s exactly what occurs:
1. “Doc, my knee hurts.”
2. “Okay, take these pills.”
3. Now you’re taking pills that wear down the very cartilage you need inside your knee.
4. When you start running out of cartilage, you have “arthritis.”
5. When this persists chronically, you are advised knee replacement, which costs up to $57,000 per knee and has become an American epidemic, with nearly a million knees replaced per year, and that number is only expected to triple over the next decade according to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Even your meniscus — the most common knee surgery in younger adults — is a form of cartilage.
My high school coach got me popping anti-inflammatory drugs like they were candy. Not long after, I tore my meniscus. NO SURPRISE.

Let’s re-cap where we stand:
1. The world has an epidemic of knee surgeries that has spiraled out of control.
2. None of our governing medical bodies know what to do about it, and in fact are only predicting our already-catastrophic knee troubles to get much worse!
3. The common advice we do get (rest, ice, anti-inflammatory drugs), factually only makes us MORE LIKELY to have knee surgery.
And I’m here to tell you there is a SIMPLE alternative that WORKS!
Life is meant to be beautiful. Our bodies were not designed to fail. They were designed to WORK. And we can pour energy on making them work, without ever working through pain in the process.
